Are Your Hormones Making You Fat?

What do hormones have to do with getting fit? Well maybe you can relate to this: You have done everything you know. You have even added half hour of cardio to your workout, but you just can't seem to make headway. It could be a plateau, or your bodies own chemistry may be working over-time and preventing you from losing the weight you want.

We are now entering the last part of January. It's a good time to evaluate how you've been doing with your goals. Are you sticking to the "plan" or have you fallen off the band wagon and are waiting for the next "in" thing.

Studies show that 98% of people who lose weight, will gain it back within a five- year period, and most of those people gain back more than what they lost.

Each hormone in your body has a specific role, and they are very powerful. What you eat, directly effects them. So the question remains. Is this what's making you fat? Lets take a look at this more closely.

Our body's chemistry can get "out of wack" by poor food choices, lack of sleep and definitly stress. When this occurs we can easily gain weight. When we do it's usually around the stomach.

Let's take a look at how poor food choices can affect you. When you eat too many carbs (especially those with a high glycemic index), it spikes your insulin. If you are consuming too many refined carbs, the body keeps releasing insulin and in turn the excess insulin causes fat to be stored around your mid-section. Yikes! Skipping your meals isn't much better.

The best way to control body chemistry is to eat and exercise regularly. And the best news is that you can begin to regulate your body by eating the proper amount of protein, carbs and fats in as little as a week.
