Eating Healthy At Restaurants
For those trying to live a healthy lifestyle, eating healthy at restaurants can be very stressful. There are so many selections and choices to be made. You can safely go out and enjoy yourself while choosing healthy alternatives to common high fat choices. Simply follow these tips:
- Select a restaurant that has healthy alternatives
- Know ahead of time that your portion served is way too much, so plan only to eat half of it. Ask immediately for a box to put the other half in to take home
- Ask for salad dressing on the side. Avoid creamy dressings. Choose vinaigrette instead
- When choosing sauces for meats-always choose red. White sauces often use high fat creams and should be avoided.
- Ask for grilled or baked instead of fried
- Choose rice, baked potato or salad and veggies over french fries
- Limit alcohol to one drink during dinner and ask for lemon or lime water as an alternative.
Eating healthy at your favourite restaurant doesn’t have to be difficult. Following these tips, and with a little practice, dining out can be an enjoyable experience.
