Fad Diets

Why They Don't Work!

For years and years fad diets have made the news week after week promising 10 lbs lost in a week, fat absorbing miracle ingredients, and all in all producing zero true results.

You my lose 5, 10, 20 or more pounds while on the latest diet, but in the end, youwill gain it all back and even more. How can I make such a statment? It's actually a simple concept and once you understand it, you will be saved from the tortures of yo-yo dieting forever.

Most fad diets work on the same premise. Cut calories, Cut calories, Cut calories

Some diets will even restrict entire food groups, which generally results in a quick weight lose, but is actually harmful to your health. When you restrict entire foodgroups, you also restrict needed vitamins, minerals and other important nutrients your body requires to function properly.

What happens to your body when you drastically cut calories. First, you lose weight. But is it fat like you think? No. It is mostly water and more importantly much needed muscle.

Because most diets cannot be sustained for any length of time, you soon go back to your old eating habits. When that happens you will most definately gain your weight back. And worse yet, is you will be fatter than when you started!

The reason for is that you lost precious muscle which burns calories at rest. You arefrustrated and start with the next fad diet and the same process begins all over.

There is a way to make healthy, permanent changes. It's called Lifestyle

What is a lifestyle change? It means replacing unhealthy habits with good ones. Thetrick here is consistency. It's not going to work for just 1-2 weeks. Lifestyle change means exactly that. You must make permanent changes in your life. When you do this, you will see some amazing results.

How do you make lifestyle changes?

You change one bad habit at a time. First identify it, then replace it with a healthy habit and stick with it. Once you have adopted that healthy habit, go on and replace another bad habit, until you are feeling great and loving life!

Some bad habits to watch out for are:

  • The habit of excuses. People will find every excuse known to manto avoid making a change. Decide to decide. If you want to improve your healthand be happy, make that all important decision and stick with it.

  • The habit of inactivity. Failing to exercise on a consistent basis is one of the most destructive habits for your health and your figure. The key word here is consistent. If you aren't exercising at least 3 times each week then you own this habit.

  • The habit of overeating. This is one of the main reasons more adults are overweight today. We consume way too many calories.

  • The habit of empty calories. These are foods that provide little to no nutritional value. They are often very high in sugar and/or fat and generally end up around your waist.

How many times have you told yourself that you will "be good" tomorrow. You'll eat better and you'll get a walk in. Tomorrow always comes and goes, and often nothing changes.

    You can lose weight.
You can look and feel great.
You can be happy and love life.
Take action now. Don't wait for tomorrow. Make lifestyle changes that will make you feel and look better and best of all start right now!
