Preventing Injuries

Preventing injuries is the number one way to be sure that fitness remains fun for a lifetime! After all if you are injured you can't take part in the activities you enjoy. Worse still, while you recover the rest of your body loses the benefits of regular exercise.

Common Causes of Injury

  • Lack of muscle tone
  • Muscle imbalances
  • Weak core
  • Over enthusiastic (trying to do too much, too soon)
  • Improper form

If something doesn't feel right, it's probably not. It shouldn't be "painful" to exercise or do an activity you love. It's great to push yourself to new levels, but you need to be able to recognize your body expressing "pain" vs. muscle fatigue from a great workout.

One of the great benefits of exercise is that it makes the activities we do more enjoyable. Some injuries are more common with certain activities and there are steps that can be taken to avoid pain that hinders your enjoyment. Take a look at the following links and learn how to keep your activites fun.
